Glammers! โจ
How have you guys been?! Things have been so crazy, and while having a 3 year old, and running my own business in wedding season, I’m wanting to talk to you guys about something ๐ฎ
I think we can all agree that covid has impacted each & every one of our lives.. Well, today we will be talking about sanitation! ๐งผ
Think to a time before, and I mean BEFORE covid! What did your sanitation look like?! How has your sanitation changed?! No matter the artist, everybody should be able to say that your sanitation practices have gotten B E T T E R โ
We will be going over some of the first, and most sanitary things you will need to be doing in order to protect each client, and yourself! First thing you should ALWAYS do, is disinfect your work area with a hospital grade disinfectant.
This ensures that the surface you’re using is going to be sterile if anything should fall on it! Once the surface is dry, you will then lay out paper towels covering the surface area you will be using. You can never be too careful ๐
B E F O R E you start laying out all of your products, make sure you either wash your hands or sanitize them!! Then you may lay out all of your working items, and have all of your disposables laid out. I keep mine in separate baggies, but there are containers that you san use to keep them sterile! ๐ค
During your makeup application, you should N E V E R use your spatula to double dip containers! No matter what, if you happen to need to use it for another product, then spray it with some alcohol, and wipe it off! You never want to cross contaminate any product, unless it is intentional! This ensures the quality of your makeup lasts longer too ๐
How do you sanitize your eyeshadow palettes, you might ask? Well, I’ll tell you here โฌ
Using 70% alcohol in a spray bottle is the most effective way to sanitize your eyeshadow palettes. Why not 90% or 91% alcohol? Well, that is because the higher the alcohol content, the quicker it dries. Therefore, it only sanitizes the very top layer and dries too quickly to penetrate any deeper. ๐ฒ
You should be sanitizing your hands every time you need to take a second to maybe think, or grab another product from your kit! There are so many ways to spread contagious things, whether it’s illness, parasites, a bloodborne pathogen, etc. ๐ฉธ
There are many other things in sanitizing that I do, which I have not stated. I would love to hear from you guys on what you guys do to keep yourself, and everybody, safe! If you’re interested in learning a little bit more about my sanitation process, I am more than happy to help. I am a licensed cosmetologist, and I am sanitation certified! ๐ฅฐ
I hope to hear from you guys soon <3
